Hazel and David Burgess recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours List

The couple have been Awarded OBE for over 70 years of combined services to Junior Football

Northamptonshire Football Association would like to congratulate Hazel and David Burgess, who have been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours List for Services to Junior Football in Peterborough and have been awarded the Order of the British Empire Medal.

David, 77, and Hazel, 83, who have been married for the last 54 years, have a combined total of over 70 years of service to local football and currently serve as Chair and General Secretary of the Peterborough and District Junior Alliance League respectively.

David has spent the last 40 years involved in the league with roles including Referees Secretary, and Fixture Secretary before becoming league Chair 17 years ago. Hazel has also spent the last 30 years in the game.

As active members of our Northants grassroots football community we would like to thank them for all that they have contributed to football in our county and wish them a wonderful day at the upcoming presentation ceremony.
